Our Impact

Positive development does not occur overnight. It does, however, take place with caring, nurturing, positive and passionate support from trusted adults. This is the experience for over 700 young people who are a part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Diablo Valley.

Relationships that are formed result in the healthy and positive development of our members.

Young people:

  • Learn to engage each other and their communities in productive and responsible interactions.
  • Are presented with opportunities for success and positive self-esteem development. This translates into improved school attendance, improved grades, and the desire to pursue a post-secondary education.
  • Gain knowledge and skills in the areas of Leadership Development,Skills Mastery and Resistance Training in order to address issues such as drugs, alcohol, peer pressure, sex and family related issues.

Programs also teach Life Skills and positive Social Development.

Through a partnership with the Martinez Unified School District; the Club offers daily meal service.  This ensures that the
young people of our communities receive a nutritious meal after school and that none will have to go to bed hungry.

Over the past year:

  • 100% of our members indicate improvement in school attendance.
  • 100% of our members indicate on-time grade level progression.  This indicator is crucial to the young person’s engagement in high school, graduation from high school, and ultimately attendance in a college or other post-secondary education opportunities.
  • 30,000 meals were provided by BGCDV to the young people of the Diablo Valley.

With a building that is stuffed full of fun and positive experiences, the young people of the Diablo Valley have a choice for their time between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. It is during this time frame that it is crucial for young people everywhere to be positively engaged in an activity or program. The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Diablo Valley has been the premier youth development and extended learning program serving our young people for over 55 years.
